Balancing school, after school activities, and a social life can be really hard. Especially as a high school student, sometimes I find myself becoming really stressed during the school week and on weekends. With AP Exams and finals approaching, I thought it would be beneficial to discuss stress, its impact in my life, and how I battle it.
As a junior, college applications are something that I find stressful. I know many other upperclassmen can probably relate to this, but having to prepare materials for college applications on top of my existing workload is a lot. So, whenever I find myself worrying to much about life after high school, I try to focus myself by participating in some of these activities that I find stress relieving:
Running
I know that some people do not love running, but any form of cardio really can help with stress. I find that sometimes even taking a walk outside can calm me down. With warmer weather approaching, this could be a good option if you, too, are experiencing stress.
Implementing breaks
When busy, it is hard to find time to give yourself breaks. However, making sure you give yourself time to relax is necessary to maintain a healthy mindset. Even just a fifteen minute study break can make a difference.
Talk with friends
Talking and laughing with friends is a great way to give your mind a break and to reconnect with others. This can help distract you from whatever is causing you to worry.
Do you do anything else that helps you destress? Let us know! We would love to hear :)
This really helped especially with all the tests I have coming up.
