With a society focused on technology in the modern day, artificial intelligence has become a major part of many industries, including that of health and medicine. Further, many techniques and tools used in medicine come from artificial intelligence like:
Diagnostic Tools:
Artificial Intelligence can be used in medicine to analyze health-related images to help determine the results of scans. This can be very beneficial to healthcare professionals, with the potential of helping diagnose patients with more efficiency.
AI can also help analyze patterns within medical data like patient charts and notes. This can further help improve the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment for individual patients.
Drug Development:
Although still in the early stages of testing, AI can prove to be useful in drug development. With the potential promise of more efficiently made and cheaper drugs, artificial intelligence is a tool that could change the drug development industry for the better.
AI does this by identifying targets and synthesizing compounds faster in the procedure of drug development (identifying targets, synthesizing new compounds, testing, and performing clinical trials). Further, it can also evaluate information from trials and testing to increase the accuracy and efficiency in reaching conclusions from studies.
Patient Monitoring/Alerts:
AI can help with identifying issues and changes in health without the need for a healthcare professional. Examples of artificial intelligence include smartwatches which can analyze heart rates, stress, and more to help individuals determine information about their state of well being. Specific health problems in patients can be targeted by looking for specific patterns within the monitored factors that may point out issues that need consultation with a doctor.
